Why I Chose This Piece
I chose to share a revised scene analysis of Macbeth from the Shakespeare project. I chose this piece because it was probably some of my best writing this year. Also I didn’t feel like doing a slice of life or reading reflection because then you will know more stuff about me. I will remain shrouded in mystery for now. Anyways, .When I revised this piece I fixed some grammar errors but mostly the edited the layout of the paragraphs. I also added more quotes and more analysis.
Macbeth Scene Analysis
I just read Macbeth Act 2, Scene 2, and it was interesting. Lady Macbeth has come up with a plot to kill King Duncan, and she and Macbeth go through with it that night. Lady Macbeth drugs King Duncan’s servants so they will remember nothing of what happened that night. That way, it will be impossible for them to deny murdering King Duncan. Once that is done, Macbeth stabs King Duncan and lays the knife next to the servants to make it look like they killed him. This is when Macbeth starts to feel the consequences of murder. He says “Still it cried, ‘Sleep no more!’ to all the house. “Glamis hath murdered sleep, and therefore Cawdor Shall sleep no more. Macbeth shall sleep no more.”. He is basically saying that he has murdered someone in their sleep and because of that he will not be able to sleep ever again. This is just one of the consequences he faces. He also says “Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood
Clean from my hand? No, this my hand will rather The multitudinous seas incarnadine, Making the green one red.” Here he is saying that even all the water of the oceans will not be able to wash the blood of King Duncan From his hands.
I thought the scene was interesting because I never really thought of the psychological consequences of murder before, even though they are so obvious. Macbeth demonstrates these consequences very well, probably going insane from remorse. So the moral of the story is don’t murder people or you will go insane (or something like that).
About The Author
My name is Aidan Foley, and I think that as an English student, I have greatly improved over the year. I have learned new ways to insert quotes, how to make nice paragraph transitions, and many other writing techniques. I feel much more confident in myself as a writer than last year, and have actually started to enjoy writing some of the time (last year I hated writing). Overall, I feel I have immensely improved as an English student this year.
I spotted some failed GUMS (like two periods, capitalization fails), and I wasn't sure if the quotes really added to the 'putting in' theme, but really, those are minor things and I thought this was really good. Also, I liked the main idea. HELP ME HELP ME RAINBOWS
